Mark Dedrick brings more than 18 years of government and government affairs experience to his representation of public sector, private industry and association clients before Congress and federal agencies. He focuses on solving problems and finding solutions, primarily on transportation, economic development and natural resource issues, and has helped secure federal grants and funding for cities, public ports, universities, K 12 education and cultural institutions. Mr. Dedrick’s policy knowledge encompasses a broad range of issues, including transportation, renewable energy, education, natural resources and infrastructure. He has developed significant experience in education policy and regularly works with federal education laws including the Elementary and Secondary Education Act.
Before helping to found Summit Strategies in 2015, Mr. Dedrick spent nine years helping his clients find solutions to problems as a member of the Government Affairs practice group at Ball Janik, a firm headquartered in Portland, Oregon. During his more than eight years on Capitol Hill, Mr. Dedrick served for three years as Legislative Director for Congresswoman Darlene Hooley (D-Oregon). He managed legislative operations, developed policy positions and formulated strategy, specializing in appropriations, transportation, natural resources, agriculture, science and telecommunications issues. Mr. Dedrick had previously worked on similar issues for Congressman Rush Holt (D-New Jersey) and Congressman Tony Hall (D-Ohio).
