ARLINGTON, VA – The Association of Union Constructors (TAUC) has engaged Summit Strategies Government Affairs LLC to provide additional guidance and insight on the major policy and regulatory issues impacting our 2,000-plus member contractors in the union construction and maintenance industry.

Located in Washington, D.C., Summit Strategies will advise TAUC on a number of issues, including:

• The second phase of multiemployer pension reform (e.g., giving trustees added flexibility and the ability to implement alternate plan designs when necessary)
• Energy policy, including EPA’s numerous proposed regulations threatening the future viability of coal-fired power plants
• Immigration reform
• Misclassification of workers as independent contractors

“Throughout 2013 and 2014, TAUC’s Government Affairs Division stepped forward and played a major role in advancing the cause of multiemployer pension reform,” said TAUC CEO Steve Lindauer. “We are confident that the momentum we built up these past two years will continue to grow throughout 2015 as focus shifts to the second round of reforms. But we don’t want to stop there. Going forward, our goal is to build on, and learn from, our past successes. Our partnership with Summit Strategies Government Affairs LLC will ensure that union contractors’ voices are heard on Capitol Hill.”
