Department of Justice Awards Summit Strategies’ Client Tukwila, Washington $250,000 CHP Grant

On September 21st, 2015, Attorney General Loretta Lynch announced more than $107 million in grant funding through the Department of Justice’s Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS Office) COPS Hiring Program (CHP). Summit Strategies’ client, Tukwila, Washington, will receive a grant of $250,000 over three years to support their police force. The Tukwila Police Department is one of the 196 out of 1,103 law enforcement agencies that submitted applications to the COPS Office in FY 2015 to receive funding. Tukwila will use its grant to help pay the salaries of two new police officers, and the city has committed to keeping those officers on for at least a year after the funding stops. These new officers will serve to strengthen and safeguard the Tukwila community.
