On July 5th, 2016 the US Department of Transportation announced the awardees of the FY2016 Fostering Advancements in Shipping and Transportation for the Long-Term Achievement of National Efficiencies (FASTLANE) grants.  Out of 212 applicants, Tukwila, Washington was one of 18 selected to receive funding through FASTLANE. This is the final phase of construction of a multi-modal corridor that will better connect the north of the Green River Valley, one of the largest warehousing and manufacturing centers on the west coast. While this project addresses critical freight issues, the project will also improve workforce development and ensure accessibility by linking local communities to major employment areas and transit hubs through upgraded pedestrian, trail, and transit infrastructure.
